Child support is
- a right that belongs to
the children which cannot
be given away by agreement
of the parents
- an issue that can always be reviewed and changed in the future by the parents or a court
Child Support can be decided by :
- the parents (usually formalized in
writing which can be made a Court
Order), or,
- the court through a legal process which includes possible appeals.
Child Support can be paid
- Directly to a parent
- or indirectly through the court's PACSES system.
Child support calculated by the court
uses guidelines which take into account:

overtime, investment income, etc.
- The costs of child care necessitated
by the work of the parents
- The premium costs for health/medical
insurance for the children
- The time the children spend with
each parent
- Allocation between parents of medical expenses not covered by insurance
